Don Pepe (José Douer Ambar) was born in Mexico City. He is married to Hilda Misshan and they have two children, Alberto, who is currently sharing the management of the companies with his father, and Paula Douer, who lives abroad.

At age 17, José Douer Ambar took charge of the family business. His father, Alberto Douer, had come from the Middle East at the beginning of the 20th century. After several attempts in formalizing some business, he finally settled in Barranquilla and founded Adotex, a company that manufactured bedspreads and was operated by just 30 operators.

But some health complications forced him to move to the city of Los Angeles, so Don Pepe (José Douer Ambar) was only 17 when he had to take charge of the company, once he obtained a special permission from his school to be absent of classes in order to work at his family company.

In 1957, José Douer Ambar launched the Pat Primo brand of clothing, which was revolutionary for the industry at the time. Later, he diversified the company’s product lines and started the production of knitted fabrics and undershirts. In 1965, Don Pepe (José Douer Ambar) moved to Bogotá.

One of Pepe’s (José Douer Ambar) most notable values is his interest in and commitment to each one of his employees and their families, whom never hesitate to ask him for advice. No effort is excessive for Don Pepe (José) regarding this matter.
